Mangalore: 6 old Aloysian students were presented with Achievement awards on Sunday evening at AIMIT Campus, Beeri during a conclave of Alumni.
Dr. Shantharam Shetty of Nitte University, Alan Nazareth, a former Indian ambassador, Dr. Habeeb Rehman of Unity Health complex and Dr.M. Mukunda Prabhu, a historian received the AA awards in person K.K. Venugopal (a jurist) and Dr. Dayanand Pai (a builder) could not make it to the venue.
MBA students of AIMIT recited a prayer. The 4 awardees lit a lamp to start the function. N.G. Mohan welcomed the learned gathering, and introduced the award winners.
Fr. Rector Joseph Rodriguez felicitated the 4 eminent men. He asked young students to emulate their example in being able to reach out to needy people, as tree Aloysions would.
After the awarding of prizes, Alan N. replied on behalf of awardees, quoting Gandhiji who worked for Indian masses. He referred to Vivekananda and Mother Teresa (a Nobel Prize winner) for their human leadership and love.
They were models to young people, the retired ambassador/pointed out. Each awardee was given a crystal trophy, a showl, a Mysore peta flowers and fruits.
There was a dinner, dances and Christmas carols song.
