Mangaluru : The Mass Communication and Journalism Graduation students at St Aloysius College performed ‘Nirbhayatva’, a street play to protest the atrocities against woman, at the college premises here on Thursday.
The street play showed how female becomes a victim of some torments like male gaze, misbehaviours, teasing and domestic violence.
The girls are being exploited from centuries and treated as product of sex. The rape cases are increasing in the country and 36 child rape cases were reported in Karnataka in past one year. Women journalists who raise voice against injustice are being trapped. Women want equal status in society, it said.
Just like Delhi gang rape, an incident happened at Manipal. Soujanya rape incident is unforgettable. India has given great respect to woman, but harassment should stop. Don’t blame women or their cloth for sexual harassment, but people should change their mentality. ‘Let’s change and let’s make the idea of Rama Rajya a reality’, a student said.
Students will present streets plays on human rights and Swachh Bharat campaign in coming days.
