Udupi : Alva’s College has won the f Hejje Gejje championship in the Mangalore University cultural competition, which was hosted by the Rukmini Shetty Memorial National Government First Grade College, Barkoor on March 14, Monday.
The programme was inaugurated by MLC Kota Shrinivas Poojary on March 13, Sunday.
Police sub inspector of Brahmavar K. Hosakerappa, handed over the first prize, which comprised a cash award of Rs. 15,000 and a trophy, to Alvas College and the second prize, which comprised a cash award of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy, to Padukere Laxmi Soma Bangera First Grade College.
C. Rajashekar Hebbar, the principal of National Government First Grade College, presided over the event. The chief guests were P. Himakar Shetty, the president of the college parent teachers’ association; B. Sitaram Shetty, the retired principal; judges Tekkatte Surendranath Shetty, Geetha Samanth, and Gururaj.
Ganesh Pai M., the chief educational advisor of the college; Chandravathi Shetty, the coordinator of the cultural programme; lecturers Chandrashekar Shetty and Ramesh Achar; Ravindra Kottari, the student union leader; Mahesh Kulal and Divakar Shetty were also present.
