Mangalore : Folk scholar Bananje Babu Amin said that the Yakshagana titled ‘Amar Bolli’ based on the life Koti Chennayya has misleading facts, which is condemned.

Addressing at the press meet held at Press Club on Sep 6, Friday, he said that the book  and Yakshagana scripted by Kodu Pradeep Shetty, published under Sri Subrahmaya Yaksha Bharathi Kala Koota stated that Koti Chennayya has been born in low caste to the bad parents, and they were brought up by Bunts.

The story of Koti chennaya has been very well depicted in story, novel, play, Yakshagana, audio music and film by authors like Panje Mangesharaya, Kalmadi Venkat Rao, Bola Chittaranjandas Shetty, Bananje Babu Amin, Prof Mohan Kotian, Muddhu Moodubelle, Rasika Putthige and many others, but many have taken lightly and tried to tarnish their reputation with cheaper words.

Babu Amin said that, it is true that Brahmins, Jains, Gowd Saraswat, Bunts, Billawa and Maths of the society have contributed a lot for the establishment of Brahma Baidharkala Garodi.  But today’s writers depict the life of Koti Chennayya in wrong way, which is wrong.

He also said that, if the same dialogue is recited again tomorrow  at the ‘Amar Bolli’ Yakshagana presented by ‘Yakshangana Mangalore’ at Town Hall at 9.30 pm, then the members of Brahma Baidharkala Samskrithika Adhyana Prathistana will protest during the yakshagana. We will also file legal case against this, he added.
