Mangalore: As a part of ‘Amala Bharatam (clean India)’, that is a dream project of Amma Amrutanandamayee of Kanyakumari, Kerala, a few of her follower participated in the social service spiritual activities in her name on to make this port city look like Singapore with clean features within an year now. She stayed here for 2 days to imitate the cleanliness drive amidst singing Bhajans in Bokkapatna.
She distributed hand-kerchiefs to students to keep their faces, noses, and hands clean and provided book marks on “cleanliness” as a theme at her school near the sultan Battery.
Amma told people at large not to pass on any ugly nature to the next generation. She observed that family relationships were on the verge of collapse, and social harmony had decayed. She asked them to prevent mosquito-breeding. Mayor Praveen Anchan, corporators and health officers were present.
