Mangaluru: ‘Amritasangama 2017’ will be held as part of Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi’s visit to Amrita Vidyalayam Grounds near Sulthan Bathery, Boloor in the city on February 23.
Popular as Amma, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi’s visit is expected to draw thousands of devotees from in and around Mangaluru, other parts of the state as well as outside Karnataka.
Sources say that Amritasangama will commence at 4 pm followed by a public meet at 6 pm.
Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Karnataka Lokayukta P Vishwanath Shetty, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology and Dakshina Kannada district in-charge B Ramanath Rai, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs U T Khader, MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ivan D’Souza and Mayor Harinath will be present as guests, it is learnt.
Several poojas have been organized on the occasion.
Wheel chairs will be distributed to physically challenged persons, three coloured waste disposal bins will be distributed to schools as part of Amala Bharatam (Swachha Bharat) Campaign (ABC), scholarships for talented economically backward students, launch of the Amritashri Women Empowerment project, pension scheme for the widows and senior women and distribution of Ayush (medical) kits will be part of the programme held on the occasion.
