Mangaluru: ‘Ammanedege Namma Nade’, the sixth yearly padayatra to Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple will be held from Maravoor on February 4.
Addressing reporters in Mangaluru on Monday, padayatra committee president Sandeep Shetty Maravoor said that the devotees will gather at Maravoor Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple at 6.30 am and will start out to Kateel temple after a mass prayer.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will be present during the flagging-off ceremony.
Around 25,000 devotees will walk on foot to the temple, have a glance of the presiding deity and receive Prasada.
To provide assistance for 150 financially weak autorickshaw drivers cheques will be distributed by the padayatra committee under ‘Panchama Nade Rickshaw Kade’ on January 11. The date has been preponed due to Shabarimala Yatra, Sandeep Shetty said.
An amount of Rs 8000 each will be provided to 50 autorickshaw drivers who are financially very weak and Rs 6000 each will be provided to 100 autorickshaw drivers who are slightly better off.
Committee members Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli, Sukesh Shetty Mundaruguttu, Nivedita N Shetty Bellippadi and Venugopal Putran were present in the press meet.
