Mangalore: with a view make Dakshina Kannada a district without corrupt activities in public life, a constitutionally approved movement of learned citizens has now sprung up, following a 10-day fasting exercise undertaken by Annasaheb Hazare at Ramleela grounds in Delhi since Aug.16 (3 days in Tihar jail where he was lodged). This is convened by Prof. Rita Noronha, of Roshni Nilaya College in Kankanady.
At a short notice, she has arranged a profound debate programme at SDM College of Management on M.G. Road at 2PM(afternoon) on Sunday, 28th August for 4 hours, on the subject of “The LokPal bills: The people’s movement”, in which lawyer Dinesh Hegde Ulepady speaks on “ Corruption in the eye of Law”, followed by Rajarama Tolpady on “ A political analysis of anti-corruption Movement of the people”, and Dr. Vishwanath on” A social viewpoint on Corruption”, and lastly, Lolaksha,(DSS)on “Possibilities and challenges involved in Preventing Corruption”.
Everyone is agreed that corruption does not help a developing economic power like India in its democratic roots. There are several dimensions in which corruption has raised its head and progressed.
It has grown so much and so thick, that no axe can cut it down, much less a new Jan LokPal bill or the toothless Govt. Lokpal bill placed before a standing Committee in Parliament to gain time and lose the friction of people’s movement against rampant corruption in business, political and bureau critic circles.
The debate is expected to bring out new in sights into the national question of containing corruption at large in privileged classes.
