Mangalore : The much awaited Tulu movie “Thelikeda Bolli” presented by Sumith Kamath, under the banner Central Cinemas, will be hitting theatres across DK and Udupi districts on December 6.
This big budget movie under the direction of PH Vishwanath is a unique film which can be watched with the entire family, says Devadas Kapikad who has scripted the story and screenplay for this film.
Sudhir Kamath and Sharmila Kapikad are the producers of this film. The music direction is by Gurukiran while choreography is done by Madan Harini.The credit of camera works goes to R Manjunath.
Mega Media Editor caught up with Devadas Kapikad, the brain behind the “Thelikeda Bolli” at his residence. Excerpts from the interview.
Qus : Tell us something about the storyline of the film.
Dev : This film is all about a love triangle. It has enough comedy scenes which complement the main story. The helplessness and desperateness of an innocent young girl is the main theme of the story. The film also highlights the role of parents in bringing up their children in a responsible manner.
Qus : What about the locations where the film was shot?
The film was shot within just 30 days. The first half of the film will leave the audience roaring with laughter. The film attains some seriousness after the interval. It has been shot at several locations in and around Mangalore including Pachanady, Vamanjoor, Siddakatte, Glass house of Srinivas Alva and at Puttur Mahalingeshwara Temple fair. The fighting scenes have been shot at Bangalore. The sound dubbing and editing has been done at Chennai.
Qus :How has Arjun performed in his maiden film ?
Dev : Arjun has performed extremely well and has won kudos from the director. He was trained in stunts and fighting for a month at the SN Institute under Fight Master Cheetah Yajnesh Shetty. He has performed superbly in each and every scene.
Qus : Tell us about the songs and the cast of the film.
Dev : The songs under the music direction of Gurukiran are melodious and set to the scenes in the film. The songs CD has good demand in the market. The heroine of the film is Mumbai girl Ashritha Shetty who has modeled for several products including Clean and Clear. She hails from Moodbidri and is already doing three Tamil films. Another heroine is Vaishali Shetty. She is of Mangalorean origin but resides in Mumbai and is an engineering student. Most of the other artistes are locals. At least one member from all local drama troupes have been given a chance in the film.
Qus : Tell us about your career and your future plans.
Dev : Over 30 of my Tulu plays have been successfully staged in the nation and abroad. Some of the plays have crossed 1000 shows. I have also enacted in three Kannada films and presently I am having offers from Tamil film industry, but I had to reject the same owing to my tight schedule in Tulu theatre. I am planning another Tulu film to boost the film career of my son Arjun.
Qus : What can a viewer expect from Thelikeda Bolli ?
Dev : The film is a complete entertainer. I have the hope that Mangaloreans, particularly Tuluvas would appreciate this film and encourage us. It is a film which people can watch with their entire family. It will be screened in Central and Jyothi Talkies in Mangalore and also at Big Cinemas. It will also be simultaneously released in theatres at Udupi, Karkala, Belthangady and Moodbidri.
