Udupi : An ancient Tulu inscription has been found at Ananthapura near Kumble. The inscription was found lying at the Padugopura of the Parakkila Mahalingeshwara Temple located at a distance of about one km from Madhur road.
The inscription in white stone has the symbol of an Ankusha to hits left. As Siddi Vinayaka holds Ankusha in one hand, many are wondering f the Mahalingeshwara Temple was connected to Madhur Temple in any way.
But the writings in this ancient inscription are not readable. Dr Vighnaraja of Sri Manjunatheshwara Sanskriti Samshodhana Pratishtana says the writings are in Tulu script.
Dr Uppangala Rama Bhat, retired professor and researcher of MGM College, Udupi, has stressed the need for more research on the inscription.
