Mangalore : A. R. Infant, the director general of police (DGP) of Karnataka said that Anti Naxal Force (ANF) arrested Vittala Malekudiya, a student of mass communications and journalism at Mangalore University, with the proof against him.
He was speaking at the press meet held at Mangalore Police Commissioner Office on April 12, Thursday. He said that ANF had arrested Vittala since they had all the proof, that he was involved in Naxal activities.
He also said that the police officials had traced him for a long time before reaching the conclusion that he has supported Naxals and attended their meetings. While tracing the mobile phone history too, his connections with Naxals have been proved. Since Vittala is still a student, DGP assured to that special interest in this case.
He also said that ANF camps in Shringeri and Karkala, is doing good job. The presence of ANF in these Naxal infested areas, have built confident in the people of their protection.
The department has given a special provision of surrender policy to the Naxals, with an aim to bring back misguided youth into the mainstream. Many have made use of this policy and surrendered while many are yet to surrender.
Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and IGP Western Range Prathap Reddy were present.
