Mangalore: The ceasefire announced for the combing operations by the ANF in order to give an opportunity to the Naxals in hiding to surrender and join the mainstream will be ending this evening and so far there is no hint of the Naxals or their surrender making it evident that the objective of the ceasefire has failed.
Meanwhile, SP Abhishek Goel has said that some media offices have received letter from Communist Party of India Maoist warning of retaliation against the killing of Ellappa in an encounter recently. The handout by one Gangadhar alleged police had killed Ellappa in the name of encounter.
Though the ceasefire announced by the ANF has met with failure, ANF IGP Alok Kumar as well as home minister Ashok have defended the government act of enforcing ceasefire and said there is no wrong in doing so and giving the Naxals an opportunity to correct themselves.
