PUTTUR: The Anti-Naxal Force has continued combing operations in the Forest areas of Shishila on Monday following information that Naxals were in hiding in the area. A total of five teams of the ANF are on combing operations in different areas. However, so far there has been no trace of Naxals.
In latest reports, villagers are learnt to have seen a 20 member Naxal group in Chinganigudda area. Some shoes were also found in forest area and this has led to intensified combing operations.
The Sudegandi area in Shishila where Naxals were recently spotted, has 30 families of whom six have not yet got title deeds. It is believed that the Naxals by raising rumours that families would be evicted for Pushpagiri Vanyadhama Project were using it to their own advantage.
Meanwhile, terrorized villagers were seen appealing to scribes to help them and protect them saying they are left with no other go but to offer grocery, rice etc to Naxals when they come gun totting to their houses. They say the police will suspect them if the same is informed to them.
