Mangalore : Jokatte cattle trader travelling in a cattle transportation vehicle was allegedly shot by the Anti-Naxal Force police, mistaking to be a naxal, near Shringeri on the Chikmagalur-Karkala State Highway on April 19, Saturday.

The deceased youth is Kabeer (30), son of Idinabba, hailing from Krishnapura near Suratkal.

It is learnt that, the ANF police who were checking vehicles in the area had stopped the transportation vehicles carrying five men heading towards Kerala. But when the vehicle driver did not stop the vehicle as per their direction, the police had to open the fire at vehicle, which his hit Kabeer.

The other people present in the vehicle were Farooq from Jokatte, who was arrested, but driver Pramod, Sarfaraz and Rafiq from Jokatte managed to escape.
