kunndapur: Albert D’Souza (38), a constable working for the last 8 years in the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) and for the last 3 years in Amasebail near Kundapur accidentally shot himself at around 11.30 pm on Monday night, while cleaning his rifle as usual. It appears that he had made a phone call to a girl in Madikery just before he shot himself to death, according to his colleges.
Albert was a well behaved Christian as a constable and had taken a vacation at his Puttur home a few days earlier and returns to his camp in Amasebail. He was expected to get engaged to marry a girl in Madikeri within a short time and was connected to communicate with her often. Perhaps during these talks with his fiancée-to-be a misunderstanding had crept in and he was in a state of depression, his colleges felt.
His body was taken to Govt. Wenlock hospital in Mangalore by 230 am on Tuesday to perform post-mortem examination by qualified doctor and the body is likely to be handed over to his parents from Puttur.
There is a fall of gloom in the family of Albert and also at the ANF camp at Amasebail near Kundapur. Amasebail police have registered a case unnatural death.
