Mangaluru: Anganavadi workers and assistants staged protest demanding various demands to be fulfilled in front of ZP office on Tuesday.
Addressing the protestors Jayanti, worker from Sullia said that, the government is neglecting the Anganavadi workers, though some of them are working since past 40 years. Vice of protests is being curbed through harassment.
“We are paid only Rs 6000 and the assistants are paid only Rs 3000. Out of this only sometime we have to pay Anganavadi electricity bill and gas bill. How can we lead life with rest of the money?” she questioned.
Aruna Puttur said that, the stipend should be increased on the basis of experience. The government should bare the electricity bill and the government should help the Anganavadi workers by increasing their wage.
A memorandum was submitted to MLA J R Lobo, ZP President Meenakshi Shanthigodu and other concerned officials.
