Mangaluru : The incident of a young man striped and tied to a pole and beaten up byhave been condemned by The Central Muslim Committee, Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, on Thursday August 27. Such act of rowydism in the name of morality at recently was an act of shame in full public view.
At a press meet held here, Ibrahim kodijal, vice-president of the committee said, such incidents of inhuman behavior, should be strongly condemn for its brutality on Shakir and is a shame to our Constitution, Culture. and also to religions of Hindus and Muslims. One should understand that law should not be taken into one’s hands. Nobody can remain mute spectators after witnessing the inhuman act of an youth, attacked and stripped, and tied to a pole to put him to shame.
“This incident has brought reactions even in other countries like Pakistan too. It is not good for Mangaluru which is a developing city Communal disharmony has its negative effect and stalls development., he said.
Referring to our country as motherland, he said, that We should live as children of the same mother, with peace and harmony. The mislead youths of Bajrang Dal and VHP should understand this. If not such incidents do much harm to the district,” he added.
He also said please do not get provoked , while appealing to the Muslim community youths requested that they should not take law into their hands. Protesting peacefully is the right approach, and not get provoked,” he urged.
District incharge minister Ramanath Rai said, Home Minister , Chief Minister and the police commissioner to take immediate action against the culprits,” he said. Youths in the age group of 18 to 25 years have committed the crime and have been arrested for this crime. Party and religious leaders should advise and lead their youngsters to the right path, when such opportunity arises. All religion or organization should condemn this incident considering each one of us as an Indian first and also human being. Though the government have made the police department take timely action and arrest the accused, the aim should be to prevent such incidents further” he added.
The incident has also been taken as insulting one’s religion. Denying the falure of Congress government,has led to such incidents, he said, “such incidents have happened even when BJP was ruling the state, and under Congress rules such incidents have reduced considerably.When a reporter pointed out that as per the Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike, there were 130 incidents of moral policing during BJP’s tenure in the state, much more such incidents in just two-and-a-half years of Congress rule, Kodijal Ibrahim rejected such facts and statistics and said, that he is not bother about the numbers, can say with all concern that the Congress government has prevented such incidents as far as possible.”
Even when the heat of the incident already committed was under control, there was unfound necessity for heated discussion between the reporters and the committee members. Said, Secretary of the committee Aslam, We do not want to politicize the issue.”
