New Delhi : Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare on Saturday met members of his old team to discuss the future course of action on the anti-corruption movement. Among those who attended the meet include Kiran Bedi and Medha Patkar.
According to reports, VK Singh and Santosh Hegde could not attend the meeting. Hegde had some personal commitment, while Singh is out of town and would return later in the day.
“We have resumed our work, and today we will decide our strategy,” Hazare told the media here ahead of the meeting.
On whether his team can be called “new Team Anna”, he said: “It’s not a new team, it’s the old team.”
Kiran Bedi said that Anna Hazare personally invited them for the meeting.
“The future strategy will be decided in the meeting today. This committee will also take forward the national movement that we started some time back,” Bedi said.
Anna Hazare on Sept 19 had confirmed his “separation” from his former team and from key associate Arvind Kejriwal on the issue of forming a political party and directed that his photographs or name should not be used for political campaigning.
The activist’s new team will reportedly have Kiran Bedi, Santosh Hegde, Medha Patkar, Akhil Gogoi and former DG (Prisons of Punjab) Shashi Kant as among the 16-17 members.
Activists like P V Rajagopal, Rajinder Singh and others will also join the group, sources said.
Earlier Bedi said the new team comprises “old and new” members. The new members include former IAS officer Avinash Dharmadhikari, agriculture expert Viswajeet, Kant and Brigadier (Retd) Brijender Kokhar.
“There will be a Core group, an advisory group,” she had said.
