Mangalore: Saying that there cannot be on alternate or a parallel government in the name of Lokpal, the UPA govt., mostly congress ministers prepared a diluted version of the draft Lok Pal bill to be introduced in Lok Sabha, but the civilian Anna Hazare team called it a “hoax” of a draft bill, since there was no room for redress of common man’s grievance in it, the investigation is more complicated, and Lokpal has no teeth left to conduct a proper enquiry.
Anna Team thought that CBI was a better institution, as it was constituted in current state, than the Lok Pal to come. PM and the Judiciary are kept out. It is not enough if a corrupt minister is made to resign or is dismissed in a disciplinary action, he is not punished. How many have been punished so far in 60 years, in New Delhi, or in any other states, by law? At present, there are strong cases against 3 chief Justices, in Sikkim, in Orissa and retired CJI (Balakrishnan) for corrupt deeds. Even if they are convicted who will punish them? Similarly, the present PM is involved as coal Minister in a large-Scale Coal sales scandal, running into Rs85,000 crores. The ONGC Oil scandal runs into 17 zeroes, starting with 1, in rupee values, while 2 G spectrum Govt. revenue losses carry 11 Zeroes after 1. The corruption will not come down in 2011 even if Hazare goes on fast on August 16, or if Lokpal bill becomes an Act.
