Mangalore : Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of DK Kannada Sahitya Parishad insisted the authorities to inform the public to write the names of the apartments in the city in Kannada.
He was speaking at the monthly meeting of the Karnataka Developmental Programme (KDP) convened at the Zilla Panchayat offices in Mangalore on July 12, Monday. He also said that, visitors to the city should not feel as if they have stepped into a foreign country.
Santhosh Kumar Bhandary, President of the DK Zilla Panchayath wanted to know about the development of SC/ST communities in the district. He also asked concerned officials to submit the progress reports of schemes such as Bhagyajyothi and Kuteera since they had not yet done so. Their failure to submit the required reports on time reflects their irresponsibility, he charged. He also ordered 33 percent reservation for women and 3 percent reservation for the physically handicapped in all departments.
A department of district health and family officer revealed that the TB control programmes have been successful and that most of the identified cases of TB in the district have been cured.
Regarding the recently closed schools in Belthangady and Bantwal, DDPI Chamegowda said that parents are willing to enroll their students in new schools. Apart from it, the issues related to the supply of electricity in Sullia, Puttur, and Subrahmanya were also discussed during the meeting.
Sadananda Mallya of the department of agriculture and industries, P Shivashankar, Venkatramana Gowda, Rajashree Hegde, and various departmental officials were present.
