Mangalore: The National Shipping Board will be requesting the Centre to station another emergency towing vessel in the east coast considering the recent casualty of a ship off Chennai coast.
Speaking to reporters on November 3, Saturday, captain M.M. Saggi, Nautical Adviser to the Government of India, Additional Director-General Shipping (Technical), and Chief Examiner of Masters and Mates, said one more towing vessel would avert such mishaps in the future.
He said SCI Ratna, an emergency vessel, will reach Chennai on November 7 or 8 from Mumbai to tow away MT Prathiba Cauvery.
