Mangalore: Large number children with the colourful Lord Krishna apparel participated in the competition accompanied with their mother and relatives held at Kadri Shree Manjunath Temple on September 1, Wednesday.
Around 1000 children participated in a national-level Shri Krishna Festival, which includes a “Shree Krishna Vesha” competition in various categories organized by Kalkura Prathishtana.
The competition was held with the purpose to enhance religious and cultural awareness and to encourage hidden talents in small children.
The competition commenced at 12 in the noon and will continue till 12 midnight.
The Shri Krishna Vesha competition waas held in 14 categories simultaneously at different places in the temple premises. The competition for the categories were “Kanda Krishna” for kids below the age of one year and “Muddu Krishna” for children below the age of two, which allow the mothers to accompany the kids on stage. The other categories are “Thunta Krishna” for children aged 2 – 3, “Bala Krishan” for KG and LKG kids, “Kishora Krishna” for kids of UKG and I Std, “Shri Krishna” for children of II, III, and IV Stds, “Geetha Krishna,” which includes scenes of the Geethopadesha for students up to VII Std, and “Yaksha Krishna” for students up to VIII Std requiring them to wear Yakshagana costumes such as “kedage,” “pagadi,” and “mandale,” “Radhakrishna,” “Yashoda Krishna” for women as well as children, “Shankanada,” and a special competition called “Devaki Krishna.” The mother of the children were also seen dancing in the stage as a part of competition held for Devaki Krishna.
In addition to the Shree Krishna Vesha competition, a special Shri Krishna Quiz was held for children up to VII Std.
The organization handed over panchaloha idol of Kadagolu Krishna, books on the stories of Shri Krishna, a certificate, a picture of Lord Manjunatha, an attractive cloth bag to all the contesting child to encourage them.
Apart from it, orgamisation served hot milk, ice cream, and peda to all the participating children.
Later the Group photos the participating children of particular categories were taken on the occasion.
