Mangalore : Ghiasuddin Babukhan, chairman, Hyderabad Zakat and Charitable Trust handed over the scholarship to the meritorious and poor students at the programme organized by Karnataka Zakat and Charitable Trust held at Loyola Hall, St Aloysius Pre-university College on January 1, Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghiasuddin Babukhan, said that Muslim students must not make a separate groups, which create communal clashes, but must mingle freely with the people of all communities.
The scholarship were distributed to around 1,200 boys and girls from three district including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada after facing interviews on the spot.
Chief Guest Khaleel Ahmed, chairman, Karnataka Zakat and Charitable Trust said that students who received scholarship in the programme must work to return this benefit for other poor people in future after attaining success in one’s life.
KM Ashraf, President of Jama’ath-e-Islami Hind, BA Moideen, Former Minister, Shahid Ali Khan, Managing Trustee of KZCT and others were present.
