Kundapur :  The arrest of nine persons involved in a hi-tech prostitution racket in Kundapur recently, and the investigation into the case has revealed that the modus operandi of the racket was with the help of some mobile recharge outlets.

Three of the arrested owned mobile recharge outlets and it is said the numbers of the girls who visited the shops to recharge their cell phones were noted down and called through a lady member of the racket. The woman befriended the girls and then promised them jobs and then sent them for flesh trade to  their customers.
It is learnt the gang took the assistance of one of its member s Nayana to lure the girls and Nayana too has been arrested.

There is also information that the gang also had links with a drugs racket which was operative through a beauty parlour in Mangalore which was operated by a woman from Shimoga.
Investigations are in progress.
