Mangaluru: All College Students Association state President Dinakar Shetty condemned the political programme held at Mangalore University Campus on Sunday. He also alleged the political pressure on the University administration.
Addressing a press conference he said that it is an unfortunate development. Mangala stadium shouldn’t be rented to a political party.
“The hall was booked in the name of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. We think that there must be some political pressure on the university administration. Two years back, university had denied to rent the hall to ACSA for ‘Gandhi Tatwada Kadege Vidhyarthigala Nadige’ programme,” he said.
He further said that ASCA strongly condemns the university decision to rent the hall for a political programme, where BJP Chief Amit Shah was supposed to be addressing the gathering.
“ASCA has already sent an email to Higher Education Minister BAsavraj Rayareddy, regarding the issue. Association has requested to take strict action against those who have rented the hall for a political programme and to stop the university from renting the hall for such programmes in future,” he said adding that the association is not against the programme, but it is against the university administration for renting the university campus hall to a political party.
