Mangalore: On the eve of a new month, on February 29. in a leap year extra day for the (February) month, around 8-30PM (night), here a accident took place at Mulky when a bike ridden by Ashwin Peris of Kulashekhar, aged 21, collided with a bus, when Ashwin and his friend Steevan at his back on the pillion moving from Mangalore to Kundapur fell off the vehicle.

While Ashwin died on the spot, Steevan M. Cutinha sustaining serious injuries, passed away on way to a hospital.

Witnesses said the fault was on the part of the bus rider for rash driving.

The dead bodies are kept in Shrinivas (Mallya) hospital in Suratkal, and Mulky police have registered a criminal case. No arrests were made.

The youths, one from Kulashekhar and the other (Steevan) from Bejai, were engineering students of St. Joseph’s college in Vamanjoor on the city out skirts.

Parents of both deceased have rushed to the hospital. While the vehicle is under police care. Further investigation is on.
