New Delhi: Suspense continued late into the afternoon, as the BJP was yet to get a clear majority in Delhi assembly elections, after the Aam Aadmi Party broomed out 15 years of Congress rule to emerge as the second largest party.
In Chhattisgarh, which was witnessing a see-saw battle between the Congress and the BJP, chief minister Dr Raman Singh finally managed to scrape through with a clear majority, with the Congress giving the toughest fight of his life.
In Rajasthan, it was sweet revenge for former chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who is returning to power after five years of Ashok Gehlot’s rule.
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was the happiest of the lot, after recording a landslide win in his home state, sidelining the Congress to a poor second.

Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit quickly sent in her resignation to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung. The ball is now in the Lt Governor’s court. He may have to call the single largest party BJP to form the government, but if BJP fails to muster the requisite majority, Najeeb Jung may have to move over to Plan B.
Meanwhile, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi landed in Delhi in a chartered plane, to attend the party parliamentary board meeting called to assess the situation.
The Congress High Command is yet to come out with its official response to its debacle in Delhi and Rajasthan, and poor performance in Madhya Pradesh.
