Mangaluru : The city police have arrested eight persons in connection to attacked with a machete to a head constable on duty near the New Chitra Junction in the city recently.
It has been now learnt that this was an attack to avenge the December 19 police firing that took place during the anti-CAA protest in 2019.
It may be recalled here that Ganesh Kamath, a head constable attached to Bunder Police station was injured in the December 14 attack.
Speaking to press on January 19, Tuesday City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar has furnished details relating to the case. He said the accused were unhappy over the police firing incident of 2019 and resorted to the attack on the police constable. The Commissioner said the accused who attacked the cops was a 16 year old minor.
The names of the arrested persons has been given as Mohammad Qayis, Rahil alias Chotu Rahil, Sheikh Mohammad Harris, Abdul Khader Fahad, Anish Ashraf and Mohammad Nawaz.
