Mangaluru : The BJP has alleged that Congress workers vandalising the Income Tax office here on Wednesday reflected the “goonda culture” of the party.
Addressing presspersons on Friday, Sanjeeva Matandoor, president of the district unit of BJP, said the party condemned the attack.
He said Income Tax officials searching the houses of politicians was not a new development. Earlier, the Income Tax officials had searched the houses of BJP leaders G. Janardhana Reddy and G.M. Siddeshwara. But, BJP workers never resorted to violence.
Mr. Matandoor said the State was facing drought owing to lack of rain. In such a situation, the Congress leaders were busy hosting MLAs from Gujarat in Bengaluru. It showed the priority of the State government led by the Congress. The government and Congress leaders should have addressed the plight of people facing drought. On the other hand, the Congress MLAs from Gujarat that was facing flood were enjoying life at a resort in Bengaluru instead of attending to flood issues in their constituencies.
The BJP leader said that if the Congress is not guilty it should have welcomed the search on houses of Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar by Income Tax officials. But the way the Congress leaders opposing it reflected something else, he said.
