Mangalore : Karnataka Byari Sahithya Academy president Rahim Uchil said that after electing as the president of Academy on February 5, 2012, he was attacked by 8 miscreants in the office on March 15.

Speaking at the press meet held at his office on June 1, Friday said that the miscreants attacked him at his office in the presence of two staffs.

The fellow with the white T-shirt did not ask anything, but directly came to attack. In order to save himself, he held the sword in his right hand and the miscreant repeatedly attacked him, due to which he lost one finger from his right hand. Later the fellow broke his left hand too and he fell on the floor and repeated reciting the religious hymns. But the fellow wearing Red shirt hit him on his head and back injuring him fully and fled from the scene.

Rahim also said that the miscreants are sure to be Muslims and members of KFD organisation, who are said to act as per the political parties.

He also said that he had also suggested the academy registrar to take him to Unity Hospital and there the efforts of Dr Dinesh Kadam, Dr Kishore and Dr Devadiga, who replaced his hand with rod and nerve taken from his leg and made him to recover and give a new life.

He said that the police department has supported him a lot with arresting one of the miscreants Rafeeq alias Rabbi, and trying to arrest other miscreants by giving the information to Airport to cancel their pass port and ordering the agencies not to provide duplicate passport to them. He said that police department has clear information of the culprits and taking time to confirm and arrest the right person and avoid the innocent ones.

Even after getting discharged ten days back from the hospital, the department is giving the police protection for some more days, since he is having threat, he said.

He said that he used to get call saying him that he is changing mind of minorities by publicizing BJP and it is not right, but did not think they will attack like this.  The miscreants are not real Muslim with humanity since no Muslim will attack physically or verbally when one listens the name of their god and hymns.
