Belthangady: In a tragic accident reported, one person was killed while five others are said to be critical after a collision between a Ritz and an auto on Sunday at Kemmattemaaru Village near Guruvayanakere.

The deceased was identified as Veena (35) while Veena’s husband Kamalaksha (40), son Akshay, Rakshith (10), Gayatri (15) and Devaki (23) are said to be critical.

It is said that Kamalaksha, along with his family was on his way to Gerukatte when at Kemmattemaaru, an oncoming Ritz collided head-on into the auto. The occupants of the auto were thrown on the road and suffered severe injuries. The auto was reduced to a heap of metal.

Belthangady police have registered a case.
