Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of Regional Transport Authority AB Ibrahim has announced the minimum auto fare in the city has been fixed to Rs 25 from January 15.
Announcing the revised rates, AB Ibrahim said that the decision was taken into account after discussing the increase in rates of fuel, spare parts, insurance, essential commodities and so on.
As per orders, the minimum fare for the initial 1.5 kms is Rs 25 for maximum three passengers. After this, ever kilometre would be charged Rs 13. Waiting charges for initial 15 minutes is free but the next 45 minutes would be charged 25% of the fare. Luggage up to 20 kg is free, but above that, Rs 2 will be charged for every additional kilogram. Auto drivers can charge one and a half rate between 10 pm and 5 am.
Accordingly, the drivers will also have to display a copy of their Driving Licence along with a photograph behind the driver’s seat so that it was visible to the passengers. Those autos with licence to operate within the city can charge one and a half times more than the actual fare when crossing city limits.
Public can also file complaints by calling the toll free number 1077 or sending a SMS to 9481802019. All autos have to compulsorily adjust the meter as per revised fares within 60 days.
