Mangalore: Are you an auto-rickshaw traveler? If so, you may have to pay Rs.17 as the minimum fare, for the first 1.5 km. distance on roads. The DK district RTA has approved of this fare and asked all drivers and owners, to adjust their meters accordingly as a mandatory measure.
This has to be certified thereafter, by legal metrology department, the Authority informed on Tuesday.
After Rs.17, The vehicle will charge Rs.12 for every km. beyond the minimum. There is no waiting charge for the first 15 minutes, but there after, 25% of total fare will be charged for every 45 minutes.
Whereas 50kg luggage is allowed free, every 20kgs over that will attract a charge of Rs.2 only.
The auto-rickshaws playing night at between 10pm and 5am (early morning) will be allowed to charge1.5 times the usual fare of Rs.17 and Rs.29. The drivers must display a fare card.
The metres should be duly adjusted before Oct.31. Where the destination is in suburbs, 1.1/2 times the usual fare from city borders to the destination can be collected by drivers, RTA said.
