Mangalore : DK Zilla Panchayath in collaboration with Public Education Department, DK District level Teachers’ Day Committee and Mangalore South Zonal Teachers’ Day Committee celebrated District level Teachers Day and felicitation ceremony at Town Hall on September 5, Tuesday.
Deputy Speaker of Legislative Assembly N Yogish Bhat inaugurated the event. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the talent in students is identified by the teachers; hence they must give more importance in finding out the hidden talent in them and bring out in the society.
Speaking as the main speaker Dr Mahabaleshwar Rao, principal of TMA Pai Teachers Educational University, Udupi said that people saying the absence of moral values in education is not right, since the syllabus in education is formed with the values, but it has not been implemented properly.
He also said that the teachers and schools must not impose values in students compulsorily, but they must opt for values which they have to learn.
MLA UT Khader said that teachers play an important role in the implementation of RTI Act and take responsibility to educate the students till 14 years of age compulsorily.
He also said that the students who get education from their teachers not only make them and their parents proud but also make the state and nation proud. The future of country is in the hands of teachers because they are the one who build the nation.
Around 12 district awards, two state awards, one national award winning teachers were honoured with Shawl, garland, fruit bowl and citation for their service towards education. The retired teachers were also honoured on the occasion.
ZP President K T Shailaja Bhat, ZP CEO Dr K N Vijayaprakash, Taluk Panchayat vice president Vijayalakshmi Shetty, Mayor Gulzar Banu, deputy Mayor Amithakala, Moses Jayashekhar, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura participated as the chief guest at the event and honoured the teachers.
