Mangalore : An awareness programme on violence against women and measures to check the same, was held at St Agnes College auditorium on January 5, Saturday. A protest rally was also organised and there were various programmes like dance, skits debates highlighting the violence against women and measures to prevent them.
Advocate and CWC Chairperson Asha Nayak who spoke on the occasion, said many a time rapists escaped from the noose of law owing to lack of evidence.
Vidya Dinker, social activist said there was a need for greater awareness on laws in order to check growing crime rate.
Dr Devi prabha also spoke. A signature campaign was also launched. Several students actively participated in the programme and voiced their concern over the increasing cases of crime against women.
