Mangalore : Ayana explores 72 melakartha ragas, with arohana and avarohana swaras, putting two different Thalas in two hands, continuously raising one eyebrow (a dance sign- Rechita) simultaneously. She tells matters related to astrology and tradition, demonstrates 35 thalas with 5 gathis (nadais) and also answers the questions raised by the viewers. She chants selected Shlokas from Bhagavadgeetha, enacts to the selected Shlokas of Natyashasthra and Abhinayadarpana. She delivers a speach in English about My Country. Ayana V. Raman, a child prodigy, the performer of The Journey of Bharathanatyam to Houses is the daughter of Mr. K.V. Raman, the director of Rangabharathi and Mrs. Mukambika G.S., a lecturer by profession. Ayana is a student of Rotary English Medium School, Moodbidri.
Ayana V Raman is the first Bharathanatyam artiste to involve herself in spreading the classical dance, music & culture through the journey of dance to houses organised by Rangabharathi Mangalore. Already she is the land mark of 200 shows which include houses, hostels, orphanages, jails, schools and many prestigious stages. She has been called to Bangalore, Mandya, Mysore, Kasaragod, Udupi districts regularly. She performed for a week at Mumbai from 20th to 28th May 2012. She was very much appreciated by Padmabhushan Prof. Dr. T.V. Gopalakrishnan & Padmashree Dr. Kadri Gopalnath and Sri R. Krishnaswamy, the secretary of Sri Naradaganasabha, Chennai, when she performed at Chennai on 1st & 2nd Sept. 2012.
She has given a performance in Alvas Virasat held in Moodbidri, which attracts people from the length and breadth of our nation. She was selected to perform with the international fame Kathak dance trope from Kolkatta, led by Pandit Ashimbandhu Bhattacharyaji. This famous international artiste has expressed his accolades for her performance.
She has participated in the world famous Mysore Dasara stage performance, under the title Desha – Dharma, along with former Karnataka Minister Mr. B. Nagaraja Shetty, for which she got laurels from the ministers, ex-minister and general public. She has taken part in the magic programme with the well-known cultural personality of the nation, Dr. M. Mohan Alva and appreciated by him. She sang with Ranghabharathi Troupe at 71st Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at Bangalore, Ramotsava at Mysore etc.
In Bharathanatyam she is the disciple of Vidushi Geetha Saralaya and Vidushi Rashmi Chidanand. She also takes special training from Vidwan Sathyanarayan Raju of Bangalore. She learns carnatic music under Vidwan M. Narayan, Surathkal and semi classical music from her beloved and committed father. She takes her guidance for key board from Sri Gajanana Marathe. She has undergone a special training in Odissi by guru Sri Udaya Kumar Shetty and in Light Music by Sri Rameshchandra, Smt. Surekha K.S., Sri Kikkeri Krishnamoorthy and Smt. Sangeetha Balachandra.
She has won prizes at state level for her Lord Krishna performances for 4 consecutive years. Besides this she is the winner of story telling, singing, fancy dress, elocution, dance and running race competitions.
