Mangaluru: DK Police officials offered puja to the rifles and other armaments usually handled by the armed forces at the police headquarters on October 18, Thursday.
Apartfrom the weapons, police vehicles looked clean and gleaming, decorated with flowers. The peace and prosperity in the coastal districts made the police officials beaming in happiness.
Mangalore City police commissioner TR Suresh, SP Ravikante Gowda, ASP Sajith were present.
Large number of two wheelers and Four wheelers were lined up to perform puja to the Vehicles in the temple like Mahatobhara Mangladevi Temple and Sharavu Sri Mahaganapathi Temple, Attavara chakrapani Temple. The temple priest performed puja to the Vehicles with Arati and strike the Coconut. people worship their vehicles including cars, scooters, and motor bikes on the occasion .
Ayudha poojaAyudha Puja All Motor Garages also performed Vehicle Puja with Devotion,The Vehicles are decorated with vermilion, garlands. Most significantly during Vahana Puja a white pumpkin is decorated with vermilion and turmeric and smashed in front of the vehicle as a custom to get rid of all sorts of evils.
Ayudha Puja is an integral part of the Navratri festival. The tools and all implements of vocation are first cleaned. All the tools, machines, vehicles and other devices are then painted or well polished after which they are smeared with turmeric paste, sandalwood paste (in the form of a tilak (insignia or mark) and Kumkum (vermillion).
