Mangalore : As per the call given by the Ayush Federation of India, hundreds of doctors practicing Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani and Sidha staged a protest in Mangalore demanding that they be permitted to prescribe allopathic medicine in times of emergencies to the patients.Dr Krishnaraj Bhat, President of the District Branch of AFI, who addressed the agitators, said the Ayush doctors have been deprived of their right by disallowing them from prescribing Allopathic medicines.
He said the Karnataka government has banned the Ayush doctors from prescribing allopathic drugs when other state governments like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and have permitted the same.
He said the Federation would be organizing a Bengaluru Chalo programme on July 22 in case the government failed to concede to the demands.
Dr Shripathi Kinnikambla, Dr Santhosh Kalleri, Dr Ratheesh Udupa and several others took part in the protest.
In Udupi: In Udupi too the Udupi branch of the Ayush Federation of India staged a protest in front of the district administration complex at Rajathadri.
Dr Bharathesh A, District President, Dr Sathish Rao Vice President and other office bearers took part in the protest.
