Mangalore: DK Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary has thanked the Centre for the swift action taken against Congress MP Suresh Kalmadi of Pune for his economic crimes in CWG corruption case like Queen’s baton relay and spots stadium constructions.
Kalmadi spent a night in Tihar jail under CBI supervision, after he was arrested in Monday. He was suspended from Congress Party and removed from IOA chief’s post by GOI.
The Union govt had shown its exemplary commitment towards clean political and public life by punishing A.Raja and now Kalmadi besides arranging to file a charge sheet against the MP Kanimozhi (daughter of DMK CM Karunanidhi of TN, an ally in UPA), for her involvement in 2G Spectrum, Poojary pointed out.
BJP Chief Nitin Gadkari had no right to criticise the Central when in Karnataka, BJ CM Yeddyurappa faced serious corruption charges while hanging on to his high chair, Poojary roared.
If BJP really had any commitment to fight economic malpractices, the top leaders should have axed Yeddyurappa, but they did not use the proper opportunity to show their honesty. Even L.K Advani was a mute spectator in the case, Poojary lashed out.
Turning to Endosulphan ban, Poojary supported CPI (M) CM of Kerala Achchutanandan seeking a nation-wide ban on the dangerous pesticide that killed some and maimed many.
When a scribe told Poojary that UDF member in Kerala, Congress had another view on the issue, B.J. Poojary shot back that he was supporting the Kerala CM in his own capacity!
