Moodabidiri: Veteran theatre artist B Jayashree inaugurated the Alva’s Vidyarthisiri – 2016 organised by Alva’s educational foundation at Rathnakaravarni Vedike, Vidyagiri on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion she said that we should love our culture. Vidyasiri will help the coming generation to save the culture of our land.
“Rather than forcing the children to study what their parents want, let them give freedom to choose what they like. Students also should not forget to know what their parents expect from them. Along with the culture and tradition of this land, students should fulfil the dreams of their parents,” she said.
SDM English Medium School Student, who presided over the convention, said that education should teach us about the culture and tradition of our land. Instead of studying only for the sake of good earning we should learn it for culture.
“Studying in English medium is not a problem, but forgetting Kannada in the name of English is not good. Literature expands our experience and provokes us to think in creative way. Only reading can help us to write something. We should lead our life with the light of literature,” she added.
Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar inaugurates Cinesiri
Renowned art movie director Nagathihalli Chandrashekhar inaugurated the cinesiri by clapping during the occasion.
While addressing the gathering he said that, electronic media has developed strongly, but it has created a draught of readers. Students should use the fire of present technologies to lighten their path instead of burning themselves.
Children writer and convener V B Kulavarma Kumbale, Chikkamagaluru International School student Vaishnavi N Rao and Gopadkar of Swaroopa Adhyana Kendra Managluru were felicitated with Vidyarthisiri Awards.
