Mangalore : The Horticulture Department organized three days flower show at Kadri Park to remember the Silver Jubilee of Horticulture Department.
B. Ramanath Rai, minister of forests, environment and ecology, inaugurated the annual flower show. Addressing after inauguration, he said that green is good for human health, this programme more useful for gardening. We appreciate the Department of Horticulture for conducting such programmes to encourage farming.
35 stalls exhibited unique plants and flowers in all shapes and colours. Self-help groups, Non-governmental organizations and 10 Government stalls attracting to the flower lovers, and also some stalls displayed vegetable plants, Agricultural and milk products, seeds, flowers, magazines, organic and natural food products in the stalls.
The main highlight of the event is, two buffalos of Tulunad Kambala are decorated with 50,000 deep red Dutch roses, in the entrance an elephant decorated with greenery attracting the visitors.
JR Lobo, MLA of Mangalore South presided over the function. He appreciated the arrangements of the exhibition.
Vegetable carving and flower decorations were also a part of the event.
A terrace and kitchen garden programme was held as part of show.
Mangalore North MLA Moidin Bava, ZP Vice President Rithesh Kumar Shetty, Corporator Roopa D Bangera, Deputy Director of Department of Horticulture Yogesh HT, and others were present.
