Kundapur : After a series of protests by residents of Bagwady Atrady in Vandse village, against what they termed the unauthorized quarries operating in the area, the local Tahsildar Gayatri visited the place on April 3, Wednesday and tried to pacify the agitated villagers stating that the authorities would do their best to end the problems faced by the villagers.
The Tahsildar visited the place on a complaint by Sri Mahishamardini Yuvaka Mandala in Bagwadi village The villagers also drew the
attention of the tahsildar towards the fact that even the roads in the village have become bad due to the frequent movement of heavy loaded lorries from the quarry. They also alleged that the land was illegally leased out for the quarry and said the officials were hand in gloves with the quarry owners.
Tahsildar Gayatri assured that the authorities will be able to deny renewal of licenses taking cognition of the court orders against
granting fresh licences.
Revenue officer of the division, Shankar Shetty, deputy tahsildar, Koraga Billawa, village accountant, Vighnesh Upadhyaya, gram panchayat development officer, Rangayya Shetty of the department of geology and mines, and junior engineer, Nanda, were present during the tahsildar’s visit.
The villagers said the use of explosives has also hit hard the village and threatened the locals.
