Mangalore : A man hailing from Bajpe, named Ronald Melwyn Furtado has reportedly cheated several people after collecting cash from them with a promise to provide visas and passports. There is also an allegation that the complaints lodged against him with the Bajpe police and the Mangalore Police Commissioner, have been futile.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on December 11, Tuesday, Sunil Kumar Bajal, CPI(M) leader alleged that Furtado had visited several nations using benami passports and that he had even cheated several including people from Kerala.
A Naguri resident Neville Wilfy Mascarenhas, who was present at the press meet narrated how a friend of his was cheated by Furtado. He said he came into contact with Furtado while working in Israel when Furtado said he assists people in getting passports. Believing him Wilfy had introduced him to a friend of his who hailed from Udupi and wanted an Israeli passport. Wilfy said Furtado demanded a fee of Rs 4 lakh and his friend had given him Rs 3 lakh. Since, then Furtado has only been giving excuses and has failed to provide visa and passport.
