Mangalore : The Bajpe police have arrested a person for allegedly stealing the gold from the Bank locker on December 20, Tuesday.
The arrested is Dayakar Shetty, who is said to be the working as the clerk at Vijaya Bank of Bajpe Branch who has stolen the 500 gms of gold from the Bank Locker.
Speaking at the press meet Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said that the Deputy General Manager of the Bank Sudhakar Shetty has given a written complaint on Dec 12 that the gold deposited in the locker between January 4, 2011 to November 5, 2011 belonged to Athika Banu, Lawrence Fernandes and Mohammed Hussain have been stolen.
Reportedly Branch Manager Harishchandra and Assistant Manager Anusuya have collected their personal amount of Rs 3,75,000 and gave to the customers to maintain their reputation.
The police officials have seized the around 460 gm of gold worth 13,50,000 from the accused.
The Bajpe police team comprising of Inspector Dinakar Shetty, Sub Inspector Ananth Murudeshwar and Assistant SI K Sitaram Gowda and Shankar Nayari, H C Prakash Murthy, P C Rama, Rajesh, Satish, Basavaraj, Santhosh, Jabbar and Jeep Driver Balachandra participated in the operation as directed by Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, DCP Dharmayya and assistant commissioner Puttamadayya.
