Mangalore : The customs officials stopped man carrying saffron and handed him over to the Bajpe Police on Jan 7, Monday morning.

The man identified as Mohammed Aslam (32) hailing from Haleyangady was arrested by the Bajpe Police when he came back from Dubai in Air India Express flight IX 814 and was going to Kasargod.

The arrested is said to be carrying 15 kgs of illegal saffron cost Rs 15 lakhs which is the official rate and black market rate is Rs 20 lakhs.

Custom officer Shivananda Pai, Inspector Pavan Kumar, Superintendent Ravishankar and Assistant Custom Officer Shamsunder participated in the operation.
