Mangalore : The Bajpe police arrested three persons for alleged cattle theft and remanded them to police custody on July 31, Thursday.
The arrested are identified as Umar Farooq, Nissar and Mohammed Ashfaq alias Badavara Bandhu.
It is learnt that police had made the arrest on July 2. In addition they have solved nine cases in connection to cattle thefts at one shot. They had also seized two Tata Sumos and an Alto car from the accused.
According o the police, five persons identified as Dawood, Munna, Azhar, Gante Riyaz and Kabeer from Bengre involved in the crime are absconding.
The police acting on the tip off had arrested Umar Farooq after the cattle theft at Kilenjaru Village and took into custody, who later revealed about other two associates.
During the interrogation the accused have revealed that earlier too they have involved in cattle theft from Bajpe police station limits, Karkala, Venoor, Uppinangady, Belthangady, Puttur, Sullia, Bantwal and Mucchur.
The accused had stolen 10 cattle heads in three cases earlier under Bajpe station limits.
The accused is said to be carrying lethal weapons in their vehicles to attack the owners trying to stop them.
The accused have been produced before the court.
