Bajpe : Two youth riding a motorcycle died on the spot in a freak accident in Bajpe Police limits on Monday morning.

The police gave the names of the deceased as Shivamurthy (22) and Santosh (24), both residents of Farangipet and workers in a stone quarry at Hunsekatte near Bajpe.

Sources said that the accident occurred after they fell on the road as the two-wheeler skidded while negotiating a roadside trench and an oncoming tempo hit them as well as their motorcycle. They were riding from Bajpe towards Kateel when the accident took place.

The two died on the spot while the victims’ motorcycle hit the complainant’s motorcycle. The tempo driver did not stop the vehicle on the spot even as Mr. Harishchandra noted down its registration number and informed the police. Bajpe police said the tempo driver, Bashit, later surrendered to the police. The police have registered a case and are investigating.
