Mangalore : Members of Bajrang Dal allegedly assaulted six students at Pumpwell on September 18, Thursday.
The victims are identified as Kalandar Shahid, Shameem, Mohammed Shahad, Ashique, Asfatulla and Shahbaz, studying in MIFSC College. All the six have been admitted to hospital.
Students said that, a group of 20-25 persons came in a Toofan Trax vehicle and assaulted them when they were standing near the bus stop at Pumpwell.
Reportedly, a group also stabbed Kalandar with a knife and fled from the spot.
It is learnt that, a week ago, college had organized a function and students were taking photographs of each other and in groups. Meantime some of them objected to photography leading to the group clash. Later the matter was taken to Principal and was settled through compromise. But as they came of college, one group allegedly threatened the other saying that Pumpwell was their area and in turn other group lodged police complaint against them.
The victims have identified assaulters as Bajrang Dal members Punith Raj Kottary, Pradeep Pumpwell and Pramod Suvarna.
A case has been registered in Kankanady rural police station.
