Mangaluru: A Bajrangdal activist named Ramesh (26) was assaulted at the Vaibhav Bar at Asaigoli on September 30, Sunday night.

It is said he was assaulted after an argument with three others over a petty issue. Sources said the assault took place under the influence of alcohol. The accused namely Shawaz, Ilyas and Shameer hit Ramesh on his nose and even inflicted scratch marks on his hand using a key.

One of the accused Shawaz was caught at the spot while the other two have fled the place.

The victim was treated as an outpatient at a local hospital.

Senior police officials including Commissioner T R Suresh and DCP Uma Prashanth visited the spot. Further investigations are underway.
