Bhatkal : Bakery worker Kumar Basava Achary accused of killing his owner, died on October 9, Thursday.
It is learnt that, Basava is said to have murdered his employer Ramesh Harikanth (34) at his house in Murdeshwer. The incident took place as Ramesh failed to pay the four months’ salary of Rs 10,000 to Basava and this made him to commit the crime.
On Thursday October 2, Kumar tried to ask his salary for another time and when he received no response, Basava went to a shop, purchased a knife, killed Ramesh and escaped from the spot.
Initially Bhatkal police suspected it to be a suicide and later confirmed it as a murder and arrested the accused within six hours after the crime.
According to Bhatkal police, Basava was supposed to be in judicial custody for 15 days, but since he was an alcoholic and was suffering from Jaundice from the last six months. Hence, he was admitted to Karwar Government Hospital. Later for the further treatment, Basava was shifted to KMC Hospital, Hubli and on October 9, Thursday at around 2 am he breathed his last.
